 
What is it?
The plumbing trade program teaches students about plumbing systems and installation and to identify water pipes, gas pipes and fittings related to pipe cutting and joining.
What will I learn?
A student who has completed the Job Corps Plumbing vocation will be able to to identify and use basic hand, power and pipe tools. You will also be able to demonstrate personal, shop and electrical safety procedures, according to OSHA regulations, as well as first aid techniques. You will learn how to perform basic math applications and install water pipes and DWV pipes with various materials, including copper, PVC, black iron, and cast iron. You will also learn how to perform maintenance and repair on main sewer drains and conduct checks on main plumbing systems.
What kind of job will I be able to get?
After completing your plumbing training, you will be able to work as a plumber in construction, and/or in general contracting and maintenance.
How much will I earn? According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the national average wage for plumbers ranges from $9.20 to $32.27 per hour. |
