What is it?
The pharmacy sector is always expanding and in need of new and skilled workers. Completing the pharmacy technician program will enable you to master skills in pharmacy practices, learn about the role of acute and non-acute care systems such as ambulatory and/or community-based care, home care, long-term care, etc.
What will I learn?
A student who has completed the Job Corps Pharmacy Technician program is equipped with the skills to be a valued employee in the pharmacy sector. Competence in academic and vocational skills is required for graduation. In addition, Job Corps students learn employability and technological skills. To complete the Pharmacy Technician training, a student must master skills in several categories, including culturally diverse patients/customers, pharmaceutical care delivery systems, drugs and common diseases, math skills and current knowledge about advances in pharmacy practices.
What kind of job will I be able to get?
Upon completing the Pharmacy Technician program, you will obtain a technician certification and can work as a pharmacy technician in pharmacies and/or pharmacy organizations.
How much will I earn? According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the national average wage for pharmacy technician ranges from $9.69 to $12.32 |
