The Heavy Equipment Operator course is structured to prepare you for profitable employment as a heavy equipment operator. The widespread use heavy equipment in industry today provides a large source of job opportunities if you enter this job market.

What will I learn?
In this program, you are taught the proper use and care of hand tools, preventive maintenance, proper procedures for equipment pre-starts and safety. You will receive training on the proper operation and care of dozers, graders, loaders and scrapers. You will receive classroom training as well as hands-on training while preparing ground for seeding and working on both on-center and off-center projects, reinforcing the skills you are learning.

What kind of job will I be able to get?
Job titles include laborer, oiler, apprentice dozer operator, apprentice crane operator, apprentice loader operator, apprentice forklift operator, skidder operator, apprentice grader operator, apprentice scraper operator, flagman, water-truck driver, apprentice backhoe operator, apprentice road roller operator, asphalt machine operator and sheep foot operator.

How much will I earn?
Wages for Heavy Equipment Operators range from $8 to $21.50 per hour.
