Brick Masonry students put their skills to work as they build a storage building for the Central City Elementary School as part of "Make a Difference Day" activities.
Students and staff at MCDC undertook four major community service projects the last two weeks of October as part of the national “Make a Difference Day” celebration that promotes community service.
MCDC’s Walking Club picked up trash along a two-mile stretch of the Muhlenberg County Rails to Trails. The six-mile trail is an old railroad bed that has been converted to a paved walking trail connecting Central City to Greenville.
The Brick Masonry Class built a storage building for the Central City Elementary School. The Culinary Arts Class members were servers at the Legends Banquet, a Red Cross fundraiser that raised more than $2,500 for the Red Cross. The banquet honors basketball players from Muhlenberg County who have gone on to make their mark in the sports world. This year, Oakland City Coach Ray Harper, a Muhlenberg native and three-time NCAA championship coach, spoke at the banquet
The final project involved MCDC Certified Nursing Assistants who provided recreation activities and a birthday party for residents of the Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
