The Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic course is designed to prepare you for profitable employment in construction equipment and diesel engine repair. The wide use of this equipment today provides a large source of job opportunities for students entering this skill market.

What will I learn?
In this program you are taught the proper use and care of hand tools, tool room procedures, shop maintenance and safety. You are provided instruction on electrical systems, engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, clutches, transmissions and final drives. You will receive classroom training as well as hands-on experience since it is your job to repair the equipment used by the Heavy Equipment Operator class. You also will learn employability skills needed to obtain and retain a job in this vocational area.

What kind of job will I be able to get?
Job titles include equipment oiler/greaser, forklift operator, maintenance mechanic helper, heavy construction equipment mechanic helper and arc welder.

How much will I earn?
Wages for Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanics jobs typically range from $7 to $15.50 per hour.
